About Us |

We can be found on the Silver Coast of Portugal, on the outskirts of Capuchos, only minutes from the bustling historic town of Alcobaça. In this semi-rural location we have set up our home and farm. |

So in 2009 we purchased a small farm with a gaggle of buildings which had been unoccupied for many years, and were desperate for attention. Most of the land also needed to be rescued, set over different levels it was overgrown with bamboo, brambles and many other ‘nasties’, the only exceptions being the apple orchard and vines which had been maintained by our very helpful neighbours. |

Our small holding has self catering holiday accommodation, for which the first unit was ready to accept guests from July 2010. The second part of the project is to use the land not planted with apples and vines, to grow chillies, peppers and tomatoes, along with other produce we can use for ourselves and our guests. The chillies and peppers will be sold fresh and dried, and will also be used to produce our own range of jams, relishes and sauces - excellent gifts for those left back at home! |

There comes a time when you need a challenge in your life, both Nikki and I (Roger) needed that challenge, tired of the same old routine, the lack of space around us and not to mention the English weather! We felt Portugal would give us the lifestyle we were looking for. Our original search was in the very beautiful North of Portugal but we struggled to find the property that would suit all our requirements. |

A suggestion was made to look at the Silver Coast, also known as the ‘Costa Prata’. This too is very beautiful and has so much to offer all who holiday in the area, some examples are listed on our ‘Places to Visit’ page but there are as many more not listed. |

As for the future, there are the other buildings that could be converted into holiday lets or other uses. We are looking at ‘Harvest Breaks’ where you can assist in the picking of grapes and apples, or what about a ‘Sticky Weekend’ in the kitchen making jams and relishes!!!?? |
